Today I’m bringing you a quick and easy sauce recipe: the tzatziki.
The tzatziki is a yogurt and cucumber sauce typical of the Greek and Turkish cuisine, served cold as an accompaniment to other dishes. It is one of the sauces that I like the most and we often use it to accompany burgers, keftas, salads, kebabs …
This is my homemade version.
Ingredients
1 unsweetened Greek yogurt – 125 g
½ medium cucumber, grated
1 medium garlic finely chopped
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon mustard
A pinch of ground cumin
Dill, if you have it fresh better.
Salt
A few drops of olive oil
A few drops of wine vinegar or lemon juice.
Directions
Put in a bowl the unsweetened Greek yogurt and add the grated cucumber, drained, and the minced garlic. Mix.
Add two tablespoons mayonnaise, a teaspoon mustard, salt, ground cumin and dill. We put a lot of dill, it’s the star ingredient for us.
Finally add a few drops of olive oil and a dash of wine vinegar or lemon juice.
Mix well to integrate, rectify some ingredient if necessary till the taste is as desired.
Refrigerate until served.
