I love a good Rice Krispy treat but I often want something different, not just the same ol’ same ol’. So I started thinking, why can’t we just make them using different cereals or cookies, I know some people have made them with Fruit Loops and some even tried Cheerios but what about cookies???
I went in search and came upon this super quick recipe from Picky Palate, I knew what I wanted and it’s exactly what she came up with, how neat is that? This way I didn’t have to worry about finding the right amounts or trying until I got the perfect recipe, it was all worked out there for me. She has some amazing recipes too so be sure to stick around there for a bit and look around.
I’ll be the first to tell you that mine don’t look like hers, one of the main reasons is that I didn’t have an 8×8 pan at my disposal, it was being used for something else, so I went with a slightly bigger which resulted in more cookie bars but not as thick as hers.
They are SO so good and now I’m determined to make more. Next up will be the Golden Oreo cookies, then I’m going to make these bars using my leftover Girl Scout Cookies. I can just imagine some Peppermint Cookie Bars or Samoas….YUM!
5 cups Large Marshmallows
4 tablespoons butter
1. Place Oreos in food processor and pulse until ground.
Melt marshmallows and butter in microwave until puffed, about 1 1/2- 2 minutes.
Remove and pour in ground Oreo Cookies.
Stir to combine then transfer to a foil lined 8×8 inch baking pan.
Let set up for 10 minutes. Remove bars out of pan with edges of foil and cut into squares.
