Avocado milk chocolate mousse tartlets

Today I propose very unorthodox tartlets: without baking, with no flour, eggs or fat, but with creamy avocado and milk chocolate mousse, which reminds me of the avocado shakes with a drop of chocolate sauce, which I discovered in Indonesia. Their crust is a combination of cocoa powder, dried dates, almonds, oat flakes and orange juice. They are not only very tasty but, as you may have guessed, also very healthy. Their taste and texture will definitely surprise – and I hope in a positive way – people with any knowledge of the ingredients used to prepare them. It just so happened that I made them on Valentine’s Day, therefore the heart on one of them:), and I must admit I was a little stressed waiting for the reaction, but I quickly found out that quite unnecessarily, because the tart was approved just after the first bite and even praised with words: ”muy buena”, he said:). Ingredients (for 3 12 cm tartlets):


2 ripe avocados
100 g milk chocolate
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
pinch of salt


50 g oat flakes
80 g dried dates
50 g almonds
2 teaspoons cocoa
3 tablespoons orange juice


Mix the orange juice with the oats. Put chopped dates and almonds in a food processor and pulse them until they turn into crumbs. Mix the almond-date mixture with the oats and the cocoa powder. Press the crust into three 12 cm tartlets moulds and put them in the fridge.

Melt the chocolate using a hot water bath (Bain-Marie) technique and set aside to cool. Blend the melted chocolate with avocados, honey, lemon juice, vanilla extract and salt until smooth. Divide the mousse into the tartlet moulds and refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Powder them with cocoa and arrange some fresh or dried fruits atop.
